I think what’s missing from disqus.com and Wikipedia is a voting function, which should precede major events like the total deletion of an active discussion on disqus or the repeated editing of entries back and forth between two parties as on Wikipedia.  The voting function should be organized to encourage participation by readers and to foster debate between opposing viewpoints with ample time before the vote.
