#MeToo has brought down the editor of the New York Times Book Review, Ian Buruma. The Wsws.org has stated on multiple occasions that #metoo was created and controlled by the New York Times. If the New York Times really controlled #MeToo, this could never have happened.

This Gomeshi affair, beyond the just act of bringing a media defender of the economic and political order down in a swift fashion, has also brought out the question of whether such figures should be given free reign to opiniate misleadingly on their condition in front of a mass audience. The answer is no, they should not have that right, as competition for media attention should not require predatory, criminal acts. The suffering of artists in anonymity can much more effectively bring the devotion to truth and humanity to music, art, and criticism which is lacking in the works of Buruma and Gomeshi.
