Final decision announced by group representing Professor James Livingston, November 15th, 2018:
Personal message sent to Professor James Livingston, August 23, 2018:
James Livingston, I defend your right to free speech. While I was at Rutgers, you signed a form as faculty advisor to a student group I founded, a socialist group called Students for Social Equality. This allowed us to have regular meetings on campus. Thank you for your many years of hard work at Rutgers and for defending free speech and democracy, as well as the interests of the poor and the working class. I hope this feigned outrage will not lead to the censorship of faculty or to any professional consequences.
Messages Sent to SEP, August 23rd, 2018:
James Livingston, a long-time tenured professor at Rutgers University, who was the faculty advisor for the SSE at Rutgers in 2004-2005, recently appeared in the news because the university threatened him and his position over a joke on a facebook post.
To SEP:

I have had some correspondence with Professor James Livingston, but not with the SEP.
