that fascism has come to power in America,

Accepting,

that the role of the party in the revolution remains central under such circumstances, and

Regarding

these as central features of the struggle against fascism,

I. The party establishes and participates as centrally as possible within existing,

  1. Organizations for the families of victims of fascist and Stalinist murders, suspected or proven, on the model of Latin American groups that successfully organized the end of fascist dictatorship,

2. Treatment groups for the victims of torture, including suspected torture, without intrusions into privacy, on the model of refugee, released prisoner, illegal immigrant sanctuaries, and other groups for victims of mass persecution.

3. Legal Armed Partisan groups, on the model of the many organized militias throughout the United States, to plan and drill for emergency prison-freeing (in situations of illegal arrest without trial) and road-block defense operations (where excessive force by the state deprives the people of the right to demonstrate), and

4. Revolutionary Book Stores, preferably on Co-op Models, within store-fronts, with a table and seats as well as a full inventory of party literature, within 5 minutes walking distance from major universities or other central locations.

II. Of these groups shall be demanded,

  1. Weekly or monthly membership meetings with a maximum of ten members at meetings.

2. Combined with annual membership drives, and

3. Twice annual public events,

III. The party organizations proceed with the above,

Resolving,

Unswerving commitment to essential principles through the state-suppression of legal organization and election campaigns,

Enforcing,

Through persecution,

A deeper outreach program to bring new recruits to the party, and

Rejecting,

a Stalinist betrayal of the working class based on the theory of “Social Fascism”, and

Combating,

the illegal Subversion of working class revolutionary potential.

    So is it prudent to shift the activities of the SEP in this direction, or is there a threshold for deciding when to do so, that is clear and easy to understand? If the SEP is honest about their appraisal of coming Fascism, they should already be preparing for it. Also, how should the character and scope of future Fascism be determined, from what examples or trends. How does this in turn impact the preparations of the SEP?

      There is always a far-right, and it is always prudent to fight it as part of the process of building a revolutionary movement. It should not be seen as a shift, but a refinement or an end to the neglect of that part of the work of the party. Fascist gangs may appear in Haiti one day, in Argentina another, and once again in Canada or the US. They naturally give rise to groups like Antifa.

      The SEP, in the midst of Antifa, should emphasize the importance of socialist over anarchist politics. Not to alienate or offend anarchism, but to point to the similar goal of the withering away of the state, of a people without state oppression. Anarchists divided the 1st International in Marx’s time and returned the power to the bourgeois state in Spain. Since then, the divide has grown. Yet the far right, by acting too openly, brings anarchism back to the side of socialist revolution. Trotsky wrote of prefering anarchists to reformists and Stalinists. The point is, can you get them to vote to approve resolutions?

      We should all do our best to save the general public and individual revolutionaries from plots by the far right to break up meetings and groups, or plots to prevent them from forming. These may go as far as murder, terrorism, or death squads. Their leaders need to go to prison, but unfortunately, as with the President of Mexico praising Mussolini or the President of France praising the head of the Vichy regime, fascists are being resurrected and honored by sitting high officials. The gates are being opened, but to release the monsters of history on the hapless gladiators.
