The far-right has met with great resistance to all its protests from a loose network known as Antifa. Antifa did not organize a counter-protest, however, to resist the far-right takeover of the Capitol. This also had a parrelel in the military, which rejected all calls for reinforcements to defend the Capitol from violent takeover. Another parrelel appears in the decision by the courts and prosecutors to refrain from any prosecution of Capitol mob insurrectionists, as long as there is no accusation of violence committed within the Capitol building. The entry itself was a forced entry that involved the murder of a police officer, but they will not face any prosecution.

These decisions prove that Antifa has allowed itself to give in to control by elements sympathetic to the far right and their central strategy, the forced takeover of the government and the establishment of a presidential dictatorship. Furthermore, the resistance to formal, public argument seems intent on suppressing an openly socialist strategy. The Antifa movement must enter the Capitol and the White House to defend against the conspirators on the far-right and their defenders posing as leftists. The National Guard cannot defend democracy, as they experienced, since the leadership of the military supports the coup. They even found themselves forced to sleep in a parking lot after meeting delays and arriving late to the Capitol.

The Antifa Socialist Party must organize beyond simple street vandalism towards occupations and political strikes that force the media to address the needs of the people, namely the dire need for socialist economic programs to end unemployment, homelessness, lack of health insurance, and poverty in general, as well as the opening of borders to immigration in support of working class unity internationally. The example of the coronavirus proves that the capitalist state will use extreme forms of violence to defend the privileges of the oligarchy. Only a socialist revolution, though initially anarchistic, can restore order and responsibly produce and distribute prosperity to the majority while raising the standard of living for the poorest and most vulnerable.
