Democratic Power has put forward the electoral strategy of seeking local office and challenging the DSA in elections. The SEP nano-bureaucracy has chosen to run illegitimate candidates for national elections that they cannot win. Throwing leaflet into the wind will not build a solid movement that wins political office.

The election of AOC and now Walton, both in New York State, expose the widespread opposition to capitalism and the absolute need for socialist candidates. Democratic Power does not believe in bailing out the Democrats. We want power over New York City, Los Angeles, profitable banks and corporations, as well as the military with its trillion dollar annual budget.

Buffalo, while a large and important city, has suffered like most US cities from deindustrialization, its population shrinking from its 1950 peak by 56%. Only expropriation of the capitalist class and the implementation of a planned economy both nationally and globally can allocate resources towards reversing the economic decline caused in most of the country by capitalism.
