- The WSWS has written nothing on the Havanah Syndrome, involving counter-revolutionary violence meant to spark a war between the US and Cuba or the US and China.
- The slanderous argument about the virus, addressing the majority of the American people as “conspiracy theorists” breaks from Marxism on various points. Marxists must never slander humanity or blame the workers for the actions of their governments. The science proving the existence of gain of function research should not be confused, lied about, or treated lightly. It involves conscious laboratory manipulation of viral genetic codes, not an unconscious process of the virus manipulating itself as the WSWS has wrongly asserted. This “mistake” coupled with hostility towards the American people serves to hide the role of American imperialism in the development of biological weapons, especially as exposed by Katherine Eban, and dubious science backed by multimillion dollar conflicts of interest should not serve as proof to damn the opinions of the majority of the population.
- In Imperialism, Lenin warned about the danger of German militarism as it sought expansion into export markets blocked to it by the existence of the British and French empires. The threat of a rising imperialist China follows along the same lines. To ignore this danger clearly breaks from Leninism and the history of Trotskyism, which argued that deformed worker states will not end but intensify imperialist conflicts internationally as they restore capitalist relations within their own borders.
- Lenin and Trotsky worked to expose and capture counter revolutionary generals such as Kornilov, fascists that would design concentration camps or viral weapons, and the Black Hundreds that sought to mass murder the revolutionary masses or defenseless minorities to whip up chauvinism while demanding silence from the media. The exposure of their crimes in the revolutionary press moved the people to bring them to justice through the courts or through battle. Secret deals between revolutionary leaders and such generals ended in betrayal and the slaughter of revolutionaries. Open denunciation alone brought enough force to the revolutionary party to defeat the forces of reaction. All attempts to silence discussion on the Havana Syndrome and on gain of function research must set off an investigation and a movement towards expulsion from the party, since such enforced silence will only deter organized opposition to reactionary violence, bringing preventable death, illness, and injury to the leadership of the revolutionary party as well as thousands or hundreds of thousands of advanced, politicized workers.
In summary: Democratic Power demands an immediate suspension, with criminal suspicion, of the membership of nano-bureaucrats conspiring against open discussion of the existence and use of secret weapons. We accept no secret deals between the revolutionary leadership and members of law enforcement, intelligence agencies, or secret military programs. We demand a transparent investigation into all such programs, imprisonment of their leaders, and open discussion of their existence and the extent of their existence in the mass media.
