In order to hide and deny the existence of a mass movement of the working class, the SEP has sought to portray #MeToo as Democratic Party and New York Times run. This false theory now lies smashed to pieces as Democratic Party Governor of New York State faces serious charges of harassment of 11 women. His own lawyer on the case, Roberta Kaplan, both led the Time’s Up organization and advised Cuomo on the case. As with the prosecutorial misconduct which accounted for Bill Cosby’s sudden return to freedom, one can easily see the corruption at the top as a movement for equality and workplace security unseats these workplace tyrants. As the Cuomo government buckles under the pressure of these investigations, various resignations will likely follow. Only a break from the Democratic Party can bring to light the level of anger and the determination to restore justice on the part of the #MeToo movement’s massive support within the working class. The nano-bureaucracy naturally aligns with Roberta Kaplan, arguing that #MeToo is rightfully her domain, preventing the workers from campaigning against Governor Andrew Cuomo. Their alliance has failed and only the Democratic Power Faction can offer leadership given the nano-bureaucracy’s abject failure to provide leadership for a growing revolutionary movement that seeks to unseat Democratic and Republican politicians, executives and oligarchs, privileged media aristocrats and military officials. The struggle for women’s equality, Marxists have long argued, depends upon the struggle of the working class for socialism. The WSWS has turned this position on its head, arguing that the struggle for women’s equality, security, and participation in fact hurts the struggle for socialism by dividing the working class. Unable to generalize from specific facts, the nano-bureaucracy’s positivist approach denies the working class access to real Marxism and responsible leadership.
