In 2006, Bill Van Auken turned down an interview on national television with TV host Glen Beck on the assumption that Glen Beck only secretly planned to humiliate Van Auken, meaning accepting the invitation was a mistake to avoid embarrassment. This attacked the rights of members who had campaigned for Bill Van Auken as the presidential candidate of the SEP for the express purpose of reaching a wider audience. Now, the SEP has turned around completely, accepting various invitations into the bourgeois media while forgetting or remaining ignorant of the original premise for rejecting the invitation of Glen Beck. Democratic Power remains clear, in opposition to the Hollywood Opportunism of the nano-bureaucracy, we propose acceptance of the invitations with the clear understanding that the invitations form part of a humiliation campaign against the SEP. This should not lead to fearful retraction but confidence that whatever secret tactics the media uses the revolutionary media will fearlessly expose in order to show the workers that only the socialist movement can debate in good faith, that is with the interest of bringing the unbiased truth and relevant facts to the audience. Democratic Power plans to continue the fight against the systematic humiliation and suppression of the socialist movement and to continue to participate with the clear view that secret humiliation tactics will receive proper exposure and serious responses and treatments to defend the socialists both on stage and in the audience.
