After bemoaning the right to free speech in the media, Damon claims, “But in the scientific community, there is no debate.” This declaration of war on science has all the hallmarks of Bush’s war on Iraq. Damon believes the war on science will be a “cake-walk”, but both science and free speech have very powerful defenders who will never lay down their arms. His announcement of, “Mission Accomplished” on board the cruise ship of the nano-bureaucracy proves the inevitable unity of imperialist warmongering and open hate for the democratic rights of the working class.
Besides again revealing their odd affinity for Nicolas Wade, the WSWS has also introduced a brand new theory, “mosaicism.” Mosaicism basically means that they do not need to offer any proof of their theory and must merely construct a story for the public from pieces of unconnected evidence. This stance against scientific evidence and theory working together proves that the WSWS has begun to base itself mainly on unscientific premises. Such an idealistic transformation stems from their adaptation to fascism and their acceptance of fascist theory. Fascist theory begins with the fantasies of the middle class as they struggle against the indelible reality of their meek existence. Marxism bases itself on scientific facts that offer a complete and objective picture in vivid detail. Rather than the weak position of the middle class which must submit to one of the two large classes, Marxism bases itself on the revolutionary proletariat, which is the only class capable of overthrowing the powerful, widespread, and complex capitalist system.
The final important claim made in the article implies that the Telegraph, the official newspaper of the UK’s conservative governments, has taken Damon’s side against the scientific community. He writes, “Of all the major English-language publications, only the UK-based Telegraph has reported the breakthrough discovery.”
In fact, the Telegraph editorial board sided from the beginning with the gain-of-function theory, leaving open the possibility of an accidental leak, possibly for diplomatic reasons. They recently published an important revelation proving the lab origin of cave-dwelling viruses:
Sarah Knapton, the science editor of the Telegraph, titled and subtitled her article as follows: “Wuhan scientists planned to release coronavirus particles into cave bats, leaked papers reveal- Documents reveal researchers applied for $14m to fund controversial project in 2018.” A recent Telegraph editorial also points out that “Big Technology”, likely involved in the production of other secret weapons programs, as evidenced by the Cambridge Analytica scandal, provided the main support for the witch-hunt theory known as “Zoonotic Spillover.” The big technology companies censored and banned all information related to “gain-of-function” research and the lab-origin theory as “fake news”, giving a false impression that it was not the majority belief among scientists and among the general population.
The researchers of the 2018 study included Dr. Peter Daszak, leader of the US-government-funded EcoHealth Alliance. Dr. Daszak has publicly thanked the WSWS for covering up his secretive research into viral biological weapons development. The information leaked out to the press through the work of the Drastic Research group, discussed by Katherine Eban and completely censored by the WSWS.
What emmerges from this report on the leaked papers fills in the story with more detail, but continues to support the lab-origin theory. The following year after Dr. Shi Zhengli, “the bat lady”, warned of an immenint “Zoonotic Spillover”, her British partner in crime, Dr. Daszak submitted a proposal to spread the coronavirus in caves using “nano-particles.” After spreading the coronavirus in caves, the research proposal said, scientists could better understand how to spread coronavirus through the air.
