“The Wuhan lab lie is motivated not by science but geopolitics. As the United States, Australia and the UK move to provoke a military showdown with China over Taiwan, the purpose of this torrent of lies is to demonize China and the Chinese people and to scapegoat them for a disease that has killed over one million Americans, according to IHME projections.”

This accusation actually reflects the true intentions of the SEP nano-bureaucracy: sacrifice science in the interests of the geopolitics or opportunist-chauvinist politics of a pacifist compromise with capitalism. In order to impose this compromise onto the revolutionary movement, they must disregard the report that they themselves cite as incontrovertible proof. One of the five intelligence agencies they quote as authorities actually sided with the lab-origin theory while mountains of scientific evidence, including from Chinese scientists themselves, prove the lab-origin of the virus. The Chinese government themselves have issued reports that highlight the role that American laboratories, including the University North Carolina and Fort Detrick, played in the development of biological weapons. Completely isolated from any real scientific authority, the WSWS simply resorts to quoting conflicts of interest as an authority in itself, the exact opposite of enlightened scientific thought. Conflicts of interests form the basis of bourgeois science and its representatives in the bourgeois academy, and that is what the WSWS seeks to make peace with, not China or the Chinese people, which they slander with accusations of “race-treason.”

In opposition to this pacifist viewpoint, Democratic Power proposes a Leninist approach to the imperialist conflict. Revolutionaries must turn the imperialist war into a revolutionary war. The US must expose the secret weapons and nuclear stockpiles of China while China exposes US secret weapons and nuclear stockpiles. The revolutionary movement can take this as a sign that neither government can have a legitimate claim to make war and both sides must lose their armies to a new revolutionary world federation. Such a federation can oversee fair economic and trade rules, eliminating the root cause of the conflict, the economic rivalry between Chinese finance capital and American finance capital. It can also protect the interests of the revolutionary class, which alone can establish such a government, the international working class. The new government would institute development programs internationally, agriculture and food programs, full employment, housing, health care, education, the emptying of the prisons and refugee camps, and the establishment of a socialist economy based on workers’ democracy and international equality. Barring such a war on the oligarchy in favor of the revolutionary class, the drive of finance capital towards war will end in catastrophe for the entire planet. Averting such an end provides a legitimate case for revolutionary war upon which a revolutionary army can arise from the rebellious ranks of the armies of the imperialists.
