Dr. Miguel Nicolelis, neuroscientist and physician, openly contradicted and spoke derisively about the SEP’s highest authority, Dr. Anthony Fauci. Dr. Andersen had an important correspondence with Dr. Fauci, and therefore his science is “real.” Meanwhile, actual virologists such as Dr. Li-Meng Yan and Dr. Alina Chan only deal in “conspiracy theories” which the scientific community must purge from their ranks, black list, eliminate from peer-reviewed journals, and deny research grants and credibility among journalists. Furthermore, the WSWS has ignored or looked favorably on direct threats to their lives, including poisonings. They justify these attacks by calling these scientists race-traitors who must support the Chinese government because of their race. With this article, Tomas Castanheira and Eduardo Parati have bravely broken this consensus. This brings hope that the pseudo-scientific witch-hunt of Andre Damon and Benjamin Mateus can come to an end. The central problem of a witch-hunt, the absence of evidence and its replacement with spectral evidence, allows an unelected bureaucracy, appointed by a plutocracy, to enact a reign of terror and subdue the perceived threat from democracy. It represents the open assertion of class privilege over the rule of law. The SEP must return to its founding documents in the Left Opposition, the Declaration of the 46, rather than to the Declaration of Independence or the U.S. Constitution. In this document, we can find a real defense of Factional Democracy within the revolutionary party, the same argument for which the Democratic Power Faction fights for within the Fourth International. In this way, we can save the rights and lives of both revolutionaries and the scientific community from bourgeois social-control tactics and statecraft.
