The US does not want to sanction Russian-Israeli oligarch Abramovich because of his ties to Israel. Supposedly, he plays an intermediary role in negotiations between Russia and the Ukraine. In fact, he probably represents the profiteers in a likely future brutal occupation of the Ukraine. The main concern for the US is not ending the Russian invasion but insuring that the war continues and remains brutal. This would require the services of Abramovich, who could profit directly from death and destruction, extermination and deprivation in the Ukraine. As a result, capitalists everywhere could profit from speculations on the increases in commodity prices resulting from worldwide shortages.
