The Atlantic described Cooke as “a principled conservative who is allergic to anything resembling groupthink.” The mindless groupthink encouraged by the WSWS has become intolerable to the intelligentsia, as such tactics lead to the creation of gangs that attack intellectuals but cover up the evidence of their leader’s complicity so as to appear to act independent of their leader. Cooke, as a “principled conservative,” naturally needs to stand up to the Nanobureaucracy, which has taken groupthink tactics to extremist levels. In fact, as another writer pointed out, the Nanobureaucracy’s tactics applied on the state level has led to the creation of vast networks of right-wing “activists” that threaten democracy with a fascist coup.
