¨Žižek’s invocation of a progressive Europe is false. What is left of the old European social democracies after decades of austerity policies, often carried out by the old social democratic parties?¨

This is a direct attack on the WSWS´s own campaign against the 1619 Project. If there is nothing progressive about Europe, then what is progressive about the US? Ignoring the long history of revolutionary socialist politics in Europe in order to justify a Russian imperialist assault on Europe, as witnessed by the recent threats to the gas supply, (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-62121702) in order to “kill those Nazis” in Germany as the WSWS proposes, will only undermine revolutionary solidarity across borders and threaten the world revolution with a resurgence of chauvinism.

So why does the US attack its own campaign? Slavoj Zizek clowned them by invoking a progressive historical view of Europe. This threatened the US chauvinism at the heart of the anti-“1619 Project.” In order to defend the progressive side of US society, Marxists should follow Marx in his criticism of the “Cult of Napoleon” in France. This trend of criticism of the supposedly liberal pretensions of the French bourgeoisie created enough support within French culture for the establishment of the 1871 Paris Commune. The WSWS rejects Marx´s view in favor of a defense of monuments for bourgeois and reactionary US leaders, a defense of US official “progressivism”, a ¨Cult of Jefferson.¨ Zizek only mimics the WSWS in order to ridicule the false leaders of the SEP on behalf of intellectualism, in order to defend the ability of public figures and policy makers to think.

We see the shift in WSWS tone from jealousy over Zizek´s success to fear of his exposures of their intellectual emptiness. They see a clown as a wolf because they fear, as all chickens do, the “wolf” and his ¨teeth.¨ They fear the ridicule they know they will meet when people see that their ideas are merely a cover for their abject submission to capitalist rule and their petty squabbling for position in the party bureaucracy as a means of heading off and sabotaging the real movement of the working class. US imperialist chauvinism and the WSWS attempts to direct Russian imperialism´s attacks towards an invasion of ¨Nazi¨ Europe have no place in the revolutionary movement. The WSWS false opposition to ¨Western Imperialism¨ as opposed to the Marxist opposition to the ¨Imperialist system,¨ or ¨Imperialism, the highest stage of capitalism,¨ has at its roots the defense of US imperialism from Eastern Imperialism through attacks on US allies rather than the US itself. They seek to direct Russia and China´s attacks against Western Europe so the US can re-establish its own empire through weapons exports after having lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. The working class will turn on the WSWS Nanobureaucracy and their shameless disregard for Marxist theory, and Zizek will ridicule them the entire time. They only wish they could silence him and so resort to calling him ¨the wolf.¨
