This contradicts the politics of Lenin and Trotsky, who supported participation in capitalist government as a platform to gain access to the working class while exposing the class policy of the capitalist parties. The Nanobureaucracy actively works to suppress socialist representatives’ campaigns while running semi-ridiculous or ineligible candidates that do not even want to win an election. They claim to oppose capitalism but instead focus their efforts on attacking democracy, both of the bourgeois form and in the socialist form within the party. The Democratic Power Faction calls on the SEP to reject the position of the Nanobureaucracy and follow the policy of the Bolsheviks, the Left Opposition, and the Fourth International under Trotsky. This means disciplining the leaders of the party so that they may not follow their whims but a scientific program. They must participate in elections to show respect for the opinions of the working class and the process of developing socialist consciousness. A revolutionary party would reject support for coalitions with reformist parties while voting against all proposals put forward by the political parties of capitalism.
