Split Between RBN (@RevBlackNetwork) and @RJohnston815 of MPP Petitioners (Originally Oct. 26)

I’ve declined joining a stream with Sabby because I realized I if I did, I’d be falling into the clickbait, gaslight trap. I don’t actually need people to agree with who I know I am. Ya’ll believe what you want to believe. That’s everybody’s right. Have a good night. —…

The exact reasoning remains unclear. That seems to make Johnston more comfortable for some reason. I will look into this later.

Conclusion: @RJohnston815 belittles her own criticism of RBN, and we worry she will then belittle her own criticism of the MPP and the Cornel West campaign. Her appearing on Sabby’s show would not represent click bait but strong positioning against RBN’s reformist politics, which are coming directly from corporate media finance and entering into radical politics. She has no faith in the working class defending her and supporting her in a revolutionary offensive against RBN-MPP-West-Sanders reformism. Reformist actually stole socialist arguments from the revolutionary movement and gave those arguments to Sanders and West to use to gain votes. Those votes going to West and Sanders actually belong to revolutionary socialism, and Renee’s arguments on RBN would capture media share for those with the actual intent to create a revolution.

More on the split, and why we side with @Rjohnston815 over RBN:

A point of disagreement:

By organizing within the community, Johnston means to say that the work of creating a national strategy or an international strategy that she can take to the people just belongs to someone else. That is not true. As someone who is organizing their community, they also have to explain to the community how their organizing fits together with the larger political strategy. If it is wrong for the revolution to give the stage to the far right, which it is, (like with RBN/MPP and Rage Against War) then it is wrong everywhere, even if a local organizer discovers the problem. That realization from her has to be shared with local organizers everywhere in order to prevent the problem from recurring like a meme.

Her saying she is not trying to debate her work and her life through various streams reveals that she underappreciates her own work and uses counterrevolutionary propaganda against herself. Any “common revolutionary” can turn into an important source of support for the revolutionary movement, and through the work of the movement as a whole become something more than just a common person. If they reject that attention, that only brings them more attention since they do not seek the limelight but social justice and positive outcomes for the cause. Even if you disregard their effect on history, in general the side that reinforces the importance of the individual can grow while those sacrificing an individual with no sense that a tragedy is unfolding will shrink until they disappear.

Despite #Democratic_Power encouraging participation on Sabby’s show, Johnston may still have a point we can defend. After witnessing their support for MPP and Rage Against War, she now wants to shut down RBN to protect the revolution from infiltration, spying, and total control by the far right and the Nexstar corporation. We can support that argument, but her attitude towards the working-class revolution stands in the way. It is the revolution that should shut down these centrists and compromisers and allies of the far right. Instead, by leaving it to someone else to address their audience, she leaves the shutting down to the far right, who will humiliate RBN and by association the entire revolutionary movement repeatedly in the process of shutting them down. A revolutionary strategy to shut down RBN would involve participation on their show to address their revolutionary audience and make them aware of the threat posed to them by the continuation of the RBN/Nexstar fraud. Nexstar itself symbolizes the irony of a national corporation controlling local media everywhere and of a for-private corporation controlling socialist media.

I have yet to listen to this reply for RBN, but in their defense, they did have this interview with the WSWS’s Eric London recently:

The #Democratic_Power_Faction must lead in this situation since Eric London does not have the political principles necessary to defend Johnston and expose RBN’s mistreatment of her on behalf of Dore, the Oathkeepers, Brana (political rape of the revolution), Sanders, and West.
