From LaCroix, who originally led the Spanish Left Opposition until bureaucratically replaced by Trotsky through Trotsky’s elevation of his own personal secretary Nin. This proved that grassroots democracy could not exist even within the Left Opposition under Trotsky, further reinforcing the view of the Left Communist Workers’ Opposition and Sylvia Pankhurst’s Fourth International founded in 1921. Our readers can see here that “Revisionist Capitulation,” or “Ideological Decay,” as described by Marcy when speaking about Stalinist submission within alliances with liberals, reigned in the Left Opposition of the Communist Party in Spain in 1930, in the same year that Kaihui was executed in China. Nin’s replacement of LaCroix and Kaihui’s execution by Mao’s (and Duxiu’s) allies in the Koumintang revealed that the Left Opposition had always depended on a falsification of political positions by Trotsky’s lieutenants to justify his leadership through repeated betrayal. Trotsky’s overall support for the Comintern did not end until reluctantly forced in 1933 after the shock to his organization from the Nazi victory.
LaCroix wrote:
“We will continue fighting for communist unification; but at the same time, we will strengthen our groups with all those comrades who join our ranks. If the bureaucracy of the official Communist Party doesn’t know how to create a truly communist organization, we will do it ourselves wherever we can, and we will ensure that it always fights for communist unification.
“The OCE will always stand with the PC in the revolutionary struggle; alone, where the official PC does not exist.
“Our press was created to fill the void left by the official Communist Party in the various aspects of communist activity, to provide revolutionary education to the masses. When our objectives have been achieved and the organic and doctrinal unity of communism is a reality; when democracy within the Communist Party has been restored and each of us can defend our different viewpoints on all our issues within the party and its press, then the OCE (like the International Left Opposition when the same occurs within the Comintern as a whole) will cease to exist, and its press and publications will be transferred to the unified communist party.”
Marcy’s independence from the Comintern showed that he had understood these lessons while exposing Trotskyist falsification through his break from their imperialist positions on Hungary. The main question is: “When can U.S. workers show international solidarity with the uprising of workers in the former colonies and in Stalinist states?” This will depend on the party organization making connections with genuine socialist international leaders through the IPA, ANSWER, and other coalitions promoting Marxist revolution against the global capitalist system. This will make possible the coordination of a general strike across national borders, helping workers in the global class war capture multiple capitals and convert various countries to socialist revolution in quick succession.
